I had a dream.
Opening my eyes and looking around, I found myself in my old home. The yellowish smell, the damp quilt, and the mother-of-pearl wardrobe stare intently at me.
I close my eyes again, then open them. Shapes of the past, buried and crushed under ashes, await me.
Even when I close my eyes again, the ashes somehow find their way into them.
The door sill on the floor and the sound of coughing from the outhouse.
Cough, cough.
At the sound of coughing, the ashes heave and fall away.

꿈을 꾸었다.
눈을 뜨고 주변을 둘러보니 옛집이었다. 누룩한 냄새와 축축한 이불, 자개모양 옷장이 지그시 나를 응시한다.
다시 눈을 감는다, 눈을 뜬다. 잿더미에 묻히 과거의 꼴들이 덮어져 뭉개진 모양으로 나를 기다린다.
다시 눈을 감아도, 어느가 잿더미가 내 눈에.
바닥의 문지방과 측간의 기침소리들.
콜록콜록.
기침소리에 잿더미가 들썩이며 떨어져내린다.
