This is a 109-day record of building a home through irregular visits to the shores of Yeongjongdo. Here, the land fluctuates under the rain, the sun, and the shifting tides—and before it stands a small, solitary human.
Adjacent to the Shelter lies the skeletal remains of "Midan City," a stalled urban project. Beside these fast, efficient, and heavy pillars, the artist engages in a slow, inefficient, and muddy act of "home-building," revealing a temporal layer distinct from urban time.
In the frames of Shelter, the human figure is often absent. While the person wanders far to gather stones, nature alone fills the screen. Occasionally, the figure enters the frame to pile a stone and then recedes again. By documenting these slow sequences, the work visualizes the land as it once was, the lingering pace of time, and footsteps that—though circuitous—are no longer exclusive. It is a first step toward escaping a concrete world that suffocates every pore and crevice of the earth in its pursuit of seamlessness.

영종도 해안에서 109일간 비정기적으로 방문하여 집을 지은 기록이다. 비가 오고, 햇빛이 내리쬐며, 간조와 만조에 의해 유동하는 땅이 있고, 그리고 그 앞에 작은 인간이 서있다.
영상의 첫 화면에 띄어지는 저어새는 멸종위기종으로, 영종도는 이들의 적잖은 개체수가 들렀다가 떠나가는 거점지이다. 그러한 사실과 무관하게, 해안의 우측 운염도에서는 개발이 한창 진행중이며 곧 이 해안도 간척될 수 있다는 소식을 들었다. 신도시를 향한 맹목적인 믿음과 희망들. 매끈하여 미끄러질 것 같은 콘크리트 유토피아에 섬 내외의 모든 가치를 초과하는 힘을 부여하고, 그것을 제외한 모든 것을 비가시화하는 현실들.
Shelter 의 옆에는 도시가 건설되려다가 골조만 남은 ‘미단시티’ 부지가 존재한다. 빠르고 효율적이며, 단단하고 육중한 기둥들. 그 바로 옆에서 느리고, 비효율적이고, 질척거리는 - 일종의 ‘집짓기’를 행하면서 도시의 시간과는 다른 층위의 시간을 드러낸다.
Shelter 의 화면 속에서 인간은 자주 부재한다. 돌을 구하려 거점지로부터 멀리 떠나간 인간 대신 오직 자연만이 화면을 채운다. 간혹 프레임에 들어오는 인간은 돌을 가져와 쌓고는, 다시 화면 밖으로 멀어진다. 이 일련의 느린 시간들을 기록하며 원래 우리가 가지고 있던 땅, 느리게 느껴지는 시간, 돌아가지만 더 이상 배타적이지 않은 걸음들을 가시화한다. 모든 땅의 숨구멍과 틈을 메꾸고 매끈하게 만드는 콘크리트 세계에서 탈출하기 위한 첫 번째 걸음으로서.
